Water Centres in Sliven and Alba Iulia have each acquired a water quality monitoring system for the Toundja and Mures Rivers. Generally speaking, these consist in mobile laboratories to analyse water quality. However, the Water Centre in Alba Iulia has also signed an agreement with a private business (APE-CANAL) to conduct microbiological analyses in a specific laboratory. So as to strengthen skills of Water Centre coordinators and a technician from APE-CANAL in the field of water chemistry, they attended for 2 weeks a training in Perpignan, with interventions from academic experts and the GAEA Agency. This training has greatly improved their knowledge and made it possible for them to better understand issues that they have to deal with in their territories. Both in Alba Iulia and Sliven, Water Centre coordinators have had numerous contacts and partnerships with local participants in order to extend the dissemination of the results of water analyses conducted by Water Centres. They would like to reach economic participants (that are often at least partly at the source of pollutions detected) as well as the population, which is exposed to potential risks.
