General information
  AquaFil 2000-2002 (Programme Ecos-Ouverture)
Purpose of the project: Expected results

The AquaFil Project is divided into two components: The engineering component and the awareness-raising/pedagogy component. For each of these components of the AquaFil Project, operational results are expected. (See below)

The implementation of these two components is based on the definition of a transversal element, which constitutes the main expected result of the project.

This expected result is the creation and running, on each one of partner territories, of an animation and resources centre in the field of the environment, called Water Centre.

Engineering Component
- Design and implement a series of development and rehabilitation operations for rivers in the four territories.

- Strengthen skills of technicians working on river maintenance in the four territories.

- Improve the knowledge and information on the Quality of the Mures River (Alba Iulia) and the Toundja River (Sliven).

- Build a monitoring system for the Mures and Toundja Rivers, as well as an associated system to warn users of these rivers.

Awareness-raising/Pedagogy Component
- Transfer of methods and environmental pedagogy tools developed in Val d'Adour and in the Attert catchment, targeting Alba Iulia and Sliven.

- Provide awareness-raising actions for children and youth from partner territories on issues related to the conservation of the environment and the understanding of natural habitats, and more specifically wetlands.
